Deep-Diving, High-Flying, Fast, Historic Fun

Indoor fun is over the top in Cabarrus County. Kids can watch thousands of undersea creatures up close in an underwater tunnel. They can feel what it’s like to fly. They can channel their inner driver (and maybe even race Mom and Dad) on go-kart tracks. They can watch a movie on the big screen of an historic theater that’s almost a century old.

Whether your kids’ preferred transportation is on two wheels, four wheels or by foot, Cabarrus County offers trails for every persuasion. And many of these parks have amenities beyond the trails, so you can make a day of it.

At Frank Liske Park, don’t forget to include time for paddle boating or miniature golf. If you go to Rob Wallace Park, you can hit the playground or pack a lunch to enjoy in the picnic areas. Bring baseball fans and train-loving kids to Kannapolis to catch a Cannon Ballers game and ride the large-scale replica Rotary Express at Village Park.

If you haven’t heard of Yes Day, ask the nearest kid. It’s a day when kids get to make the rules, when the wackiest idea makes for the best plan. But what if one Yes Day isn’t enough? What about four in a row — and what if this Yes Weekend is also fun for adults?

We created an itinerary for a four-day Yes Weekend in Cabarrus County. Set out on this silly adventure and discover that sweets make for a perfect breakfast, sharks are meant to be seen up-close, water slides are open all year long and hot dogs somehow taste better at baseball games.
